Mumbai: Actor Deepika Padukone’s manager Karishma Prakash on Saturday moved the special NDPS Act court seeking anticipatory bail. The plea will come up for hearing next week.

Last week, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had booked Prakash—who it claims has been untraceableafter allegedly finding 1.7 gm of hashish at her Versova home during a search. The contraband falls under the category of small quantity and attracts one year rigorous imprisonment or a fine of up to Rs 10,000, or both.

An NCB team had searched Prakash’s flat last week and pasted a notice on the door, asking her to appear before the officials. They allegedly also seized three vials of CBD oil or cannabidiol, which has traces of cannabis. Experts say that CBD oil must have low THC content (less than 0.3 per cent) . Anything higher is classified as cannabis products. The product is available on online stores, but they do not mention the THC content. Tetrahydrocannabinol is the chemical responsible for most of marijuana’s psychological effects.

While the investigating agency had summoned Prakash, she remained unavailable. Last month, both Padukone and she were questioned as part of the probe into the prevalence of drugs in Bollywood. Meanwhile the 23rd arrested accused in the case, Bandra resident Nikhil Saldana, has also submitted a bail plea that will come up for hearing on Monday.

Actor Deepika Padukone's manager Karishma Prakash has filed an anticipatory bail application (ABA) before the special NDPS court in Mumbai Sessions court, which is likely to be heard on Tuesday. Prakash was summoned by the NCB after some recovery of drugs from her home earlier this week, but she didn't appear and has now filed for an ABA.

The NCB raided Prakash's Versova's house on October 27, and recovered small quantities of drugs. According to the NCB, Prakash's name came up during investigations of drug peddling in Bollywood.

Ayaz Khan, Prakash's lawyer, told mid-day, "Karishma Prakash has applied for the ABA in the Sessions court, which is likely to be heard on Tuesday."

According to the NCB, during the raid it seized 1.7 grams of charas and two bottles of CBD oil. Prakash was also questioned by the NCB on an FIR filed in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput drug case.
