Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday searched the office and residence of filmmaker Dinesh Vijan in a money laundering case they are investigating as part of the probe into actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide.
Vijan had produced the film ‘Raabta’ in 2017 featuring Rajput and actress Kriti Sanon. Sources said there were some discrepancies in the payment made to Rajput by the filmmaker and the ED found some suspicious financial transactions.
Vijan was unavailable for the comment over the phone and his PR agency stated they did not want to issue any statement. The ED had earlier recorded Vijan’s statement in the case. During examination of documents, ED officials found a mismatch in the money paid to Rajput and the amount mentioned in the books of account.
The ED registered the money laundering case on the basis of an FIR registered in Bihar by the actor’s father.

MUMBAI MIRROR (October 15, 2020)
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted searches at the premises of a film producer in connection with its money-laundering probe into the death by suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput in Mumbai on June 14.
Agency sources said the office and residential premises of Dinesh Vijan were searched under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The agency has taken some transactions of the producer with Rajput and the searches were conducted to gather information on the same, the sources said. The ED had interviewed Vijan in the past too to seek information on payments to Rajput and contracts. Vijan had directed and produced the Hindi movie Raabta, which released in 2017, and had Rajput and actress Kriti Sanon in the lead roles.
Despite attempts, Mirror could not reach Vijan. His spokesperson, when contacted, declined to comment.
The ED’s money-laundering case was registered on July 31, based on a July 25 First Information Report registered by the Patna police on a complaint by Rajput's father against six accused, including the late actor’s partner Rhea Chakraborty, Rajput’s former house manager Samuel Miranda and former manager Shruti Modi and other unknown persons. The Patna police FIR was registered on charges including those related to abetment to suicide, criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and cheating. Rajput’s father had accused Chakraborty and the others of controlling his son’s life and finances to their own advantage.
Rajput’s body was found hanging at his Bandra flat on June 14 by four of his flatmates.
