Deepti Naval, much loved for her performances in films like Chashme Buddoor, Angoor, Rang Birangi and Ankahee, was admitted to the Fortis Hospital in Chandigarh late on Sunday. A regional daily quoted a doctor from the hospital saying that the 68-year-old actress had suffered a heart attack at noon on Sunday in her apartment in Manali, following which she was rushed to the hospital in Chandigarh in a special ambulance with a doctor on board. After a cardiac surgery she was said to be recovering.
When Mirror reached out to Deepti, early on Tuesday, she refused to divulge details behind the hospitalization but insisted that she was absolutely fine now, following the health scare. “Yes, I was at the Fortis in Chandigarh, and had a small procedure which was done due to a health hazard. It’s being very well taken care of. I was admitted on Sunday night and should be discharged on Tuesday evening. I will be going back a happier person,” she said.
The actress was last seen as Saroj Sood in Dev Patel’s Oscar-nominated biographical drama, Lion, which also featured Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tannishtha Chatterjee. Before that, she played a pivotal role in Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha’s Tevar, Anushka Sharma’s NH10, and the Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif-fronted action thriller, Bang Bang.
