TO BEE OR NOT TO BE: Both Disha and I are huge Beyoncé fans and she was the first to sport a dress from her collection in India, a day after it dropped. The dress has athleisure elements, so instead of pairing it with heels, we opted for boots for that tough look
As told to Ankita Chaurasia (MUMBAI MIRROR; October 21, 2020)
Since our first editorial shoot in Israel two years ago, I have noticed that Disha Patani has an innate sense of fashion and because of her modelling experience, is clued into what flatters her assets best. We agree on most of the looks and I have to say that she is an ideal canvas, a stylist’s dream come true because she doesn’t demand the usual gown, lehenga and saree routine for events.
Disha is not brand conscious; she’s more into experimental stuff and her only brief is to keep it unconventional. If everyone else is wearing a gown, she will walk the red carpet in a corset, teamed with denims and boots. And she absolutely hates anything that’s too ladylike, or is too put-together, or hectic. She is a young girl and her style is sexy, glamorous, and laidback. Even for film promotions, we take the vibe of the character she is playing and mesh it with her personal style statement. Like for Malang, we kept it bohemian yet edgy.
Fashion is subjective and since Disha has a distinct style, criticism is part of the package. Both of us welcome it knowing icons like Bella Hadid, Blake Lively, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, and Jennifer Aniston, all have a unique fashion voice and stick to it irrespective of comments.
GOING DOTTY: An off-shoulder green polka dot dress with drape detailing in the front, this was the right length and cut perfectly on the thigh, letting her toned shoulders and collarbone shine
GLOW WITH THE FLOW: A strapless gold pleated number, this one was in total contrast to the usual fitted silhouettes we opt for. We paired it with gold earrings and grungy makeup. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail to keep the flowy theme going
GREEN SIGNAL: This beaded green outfit in a fabric that clings to the body, was cut really high on one end and was long on the other, with a conservative neckline and deep-cut arms, accentuating Disha’s perfect 10 figure. Since the dress was minimal, we kept everything else simple too, only going with big hair and green eyeshadow
TO BEE OR NOT TO BE: Both Disha and I are huge Beyoncé fans and she was the first to sport a dress from her collection in India, a day after it dropped. The dress has athleisure elements, so instead of pairing it with heels, we opted for boots for that tough look
TAKING A RISQUÉ WITH A CLASSIC: The all-black strapless ensemble with gold rosette detailing on the thigh-high slit made for a classic look. But the risqué glam element of the outfit set her apart from the crowd
