Anil Devgan, 51, succumbed to cancer on October 5. Confirming the news, his actor-cousin, Ajay Devgn, tweeted, “I lost my brother Anil Devgan last night. His untimely demise has left our family heartbroken.” He mentioned that his family will not hold a personal prayer meet due to the pandemic.

Starting out as an assistant to Raj Kanwar in films like Jeet, Jaan and Itihaas, Anil then went on to assist Anees Bazmee on Pyar To Hona Hi Tha and Veeru Devgn on Hindustan Ki Kasam. He made his directorial debut in 2000 with Raju Chacha, featuring Rishi Kapoor, Ajay Devgn and Kajol. Five years later, he directed Ajay, Suniel Shetty and Priyanka Chopra in Blackmail. His last directorial was Haal-e-Dil in 2008. He was the creative director on Ajay’s 2012 release, Son Of Sardaar.
