Actress Anupria Goenka is happy that she has been able to prove her acting talent with the diverse roles she’s played in films. Originally from Kanpur, Anupria has featured in films, including Padmaavat and War. She first caught everyone’s attention with the Myntra ad she did in 2015, playing one of the partners in a same sex relationship. Talking about it, the actress says, “Firstly, I had loved the script and secondly, I have always been a strong believer of the LGBTQIA+ rights. I’ve never had any qualms about playing a lesbian, neither did I have to think twice about it or ask my parents. I have received messages from many same-sex couples, congratulating and thanking me.”

Ask Anupria if she believes in the ‘insider-outsider’ debate going on in the industry these days, and she says, “Not really. This is the best time for anybody to be an actor as compared to before. We’ve come a long way. These days, we have a lot of forums to explore and exhibit our talent. Also, many of our stars these days are not industry kids, per se. Having said that, it’s also true that as somebody who’s an outsider, who is always pegged against an insider, there is obviously a huge gap. One has all the privileges, while the other is at a lower end.”
