One is an actor, who has toplined content-driven films as diverse as Bareilly Ki Barfi, Andhadhun, Badhaai Ho and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. And the other is known for helming movies like Rock On!!, Kai Po Che and Kedarnath. And now, the two — Ayushmann Khurrana and Abhishek Kapoor — are all set to join hands for the first time. BT has it that the yet-untitled film, a progressive love story, is set in North India and will go on floors this October. It will present Ayushmann in a never-seen-before avatar — that of a cross functional athlete (someone who trains in sports other than his/her main one). We reached out to Abhishek, who confirmed the news and said, “Ayushmann will have to undergo a physical transformation for this role. It’s a challenge and he’s committed to it.”

The actor, too, is excited about starting work on the project. He said, “Abhishek has a distinct voice in cinema today, and I’m glad that we finally got the opportunity to work together on a project that’s close to my heart. This beautiful love story will take viewers on an emotional roller-coaster ride and it is a family entertainer.” Talking about the physical transformation that he will have to go through, Ayushmann added, “I have never attempted a look like this on screen before and I’m already looking forward to seeing the reaction of audiences. The process is going to be intense and excruciating, but I feel that the pain will be worth it.”

Meanwhile, Abhishek is hopeful that viewers will be back in theatres by the time his film releases next year. He said, “This film is special for both Ayushmann and me. We want audiences to come back to theatres and watch movies as a community. And, we will spare no effort to achieve that.”
