Shaken by Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, actor Kubbra Sait participated in a mental health and suicide prevention workshop and has become a “first responder”. “Rajput’s death hit us all and I was anyway shaken after actor Kushal Punjabi’s death in December. I was annoyed because so many people posted that they wish ek baar baat kar liya hota,” shares the Sacred Games actor. Ask her about the motivation behind joining the workshop, and Sait says that she wants to be a person “that someone can trust to be there for them”. She adds, “I felt the need to learn about being sensitive to be able to help others.”

In the workshop, Sait worked on language one should use while talking to people who reach out for help. “Saying ‘Bro, baat kar li hoti’ doesn’t help. Often people don’t have time to listen to others, and then we expect people who are already struggling to convey their thoughts,” she explains. The 36-year-old stresses on the need for people to be sensitive towards mental health issues. She feels that such workshops are necessary for everyone in today’s world and should be encouraged, just like classes on self-defence and first aid.
