Regardless of their screen time or the number of punches, Neena Gupta is known to do justice to each one of her characters. While her turn as Kangana Ranaut’s mother in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Panga is being appreciated, she will next be seen as actor Jitendra Kumar’s mother in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. A few months later, she will be seen as a mother, yet again. This time around, as Ranveer Singh’s (Kapil Dev) mother in Kabir Khan’s cricket drama, ‘83.
The actress shot for the film in just one day. Talking about it, she said, “The team was so well prepared that they completed all my portions in one day. It’s a small role, but a good one and so, I agreed to it. When I went to shoot, I met Kapil’s daughter Amiya on the set. I asked her to tell me about her grandmother — her personality and the relationship she shared with Kapil. From what I understood, she is a strong-willed woman with a dominating personality. I put Amiya’s inputs to good use and played the character.”
