BT gives you a sneak peek of a few exclusive pictures from the shoots of Dabboo Ratnani’s annual celebrity calendar

Photographer Dabboo Ratnani is all set to present his celebrity calendar’s 21st edition. For the last two decades, the calendar has showcased B-Town actors and actresses in different avatars and promises to do so once again. The photographer shared some exclusive images with BT and spoke about the thought behind them:

JOHN ABRAHAM
John and I have done a lot of body shots. We wanted to bring out the naughty and cool side of his personality. We’ve used a lot of hard lights in the past, but here, we opted for soft lights, to make the photo look sexy and be in that desirable zone. We lit up John’s picture the way filmmakers light up a love scene in Hollywood films. His smile and the way he has posed are just amazing.


VIDYA BALAN
Vidya has always been a part of my calendars. If I have an idea, she always enhances it and adds her own thought to it. She believes in doing something different and pushing the boundary each time we shoot together. I love it when an actor is so involved in the picture we’re shooting. We wanted the overall effect to be soft and glamourous, and Vidya lent herself beautifully to it.


ANUSHKA SHARMA
The thought behind her picture was to underline the fact that she is a stunning woman. In the past, we have done mood shots and black-and-white photos, but this time around, we decided to take the classic glamour photo route with her. We used the blue palate, and because it required a controlled atmosphere, we shot a suburban studio to get the right effect.

VICKY KAUSHAL
Vicky and I have done pictures together; in fact, I did his first-ever photoshoot. When we met on Diwali last year, we decided to do a calendar shoot together. He’s a great actor, but people are yet to see the sexy avatar. I wanted to bring that out, and so, we did this picture in a swimming pool. We did this shoot on a cold December morning. I could sense that the nip in the air was getting to him, but he went on with the shoot. Eventually, he also dragged me in. The idea was to bring his sex appeal to the table.
