During a recent turn on Indian Idol 11, Ajay Devgn remembered the late Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The actor, who had turned up to promote his upcoming period war-drama, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, was accompanied by co-star-wife, Kajol. Sunny Hindustani, a contestant on the show, performed a rendition of Khan’s “Shane Karam Ka Kya Kehna” from Ajay’s 1999 film, Kachche Dhaage. After his performance, the actor recalled that the legendary singer was summoned from across the border to produce music for the film. “I feel extremely lucky to have been a part of a film for which Nusrat Sahab gave his voice,” Ajay confessed.
Incidentally, this was the last film Khan sang for before his demise in 1997. Ajay revealed that the late lyricist Anand Bakshi and Khan came up with the melody after working on the film’s album for a month.
