Sudha Murthy reveals what led her to build 16,000 toilets across India on the reality show
MUMBAI MIRROR (November 26, 2019)
Apart from a few surprises in its last leg for the audience, the finale of Kaun Banega Crorepati season 11 will have Sudha Murthy as a special guest sharing details of her philanthropy work. The host, Amitabh Bachchan, informed that she was the first ever woman engineer from Hubli and had to face a lot of flak for her choice of career.
Murthy then went on recount that the college she had applied to accommodated 600 students in all. In her batch she was the only girl and there was no girls’ washroom in the college. “In those years, what I truly understood is the importance of a hygienic toilet because without it, only a woman can understand what hardships she has to face. This led me to build 16,000 toilets across various states once I became the chairman of the Infosys Foundation,” she revealed.
