Brazilian actor Wagner Moura, who rose to international fame as the Columbian drug lord and narco terrorist Pablo Escobar in the series Narcos, going on to earn a Golden Globe nomination for the turn, is coming to Goa for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

The 43-year-old actor’s directorial debut, Marighella, which is based on the life of Brazilian politician and guerrilla fighter Carlos Marighella, is gearing up for a showcase in the “Debut Competition” category at IFFI. The nine-day fest’s 50th edition kicks off on November 20.

According to a source associated with the event, the screening will be followed by an interactive session with the actor-filmmaker. Last year, the fest had opened with Julien Landais’s Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Vanessa Redgrave-starrer The Aspern Papers. This year French filmmaker Robin Campillo, who was on the Cannes International Jury 2019 panel, Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yang, We Need to Talk About Kevin director Lynne Ramsay and John Bailey, cinematographer and former President of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts, will chair the jury.
