The upcoming film, Mamangam: History Of The Brave, which stars Mammootty, recreates a story from God’s own country, Kerala. The Malayalam film that promises to be a visual extravaganza will also be dubbed and released in Hindi, along with Tamil and Telugu, ensuring a wider reach for it. The audience will get a glimpse of what’s in store for them when the teaser launches today digitally.
The film, directed by M Padmakumar, showcases Mammootty as a mysterious character and in a never-seen-before avatar. The period film will portray a distinct tale and also showcase Kalari, which is considered to be one of the oldest martial art forms in the world.
Mammootty said, “Ours is a diverse country, and languages divide us. History of one part of the country shouldn’t be unknown to others due to the language barrier. I feel cinema is one medium that can break these barriers and connect us.”
Producer Venu Kunnapilly said, “We have picked up a true story, which took place in 1695, about the legendary Chavers (suicide fighters), who went to kill the Zamorin (the hereditary monarch) during Mamangam and have created a visually-empowering cinematic experience for everyone. Mammootty hasn’t been seen in something like this ever before; also, we have a 12-year-old playing a character from history and doing fantastic action.”
