Eleven years after the Karan Johar-produced Dostana, featuring Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra, hit the marquee, its sequel is inching closer to reality. To be directed by debutant Collin D’Cunha, the film features Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and newcomer Lakshya as the leads and is set to go on the floors next month in North India. Collin has previously assisted Rajkumar Hirani (Sanju and PK), Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag) and Reema Kagti (Talaash).

According to a source close to the development, the trio is currently undergoing look tests. “Kartik and Janhvi sport avatars that are a departure from everything one has seen on screen so far. Filming is slated to start in the first week of November,” the source informs.

The first schedule, which will be spread across 22 days, will take place in Chandigarh, Patiala and other locations in North India. Later, the film’s team will also shoot overseas. Janhvi was recently quoted as saying, “I’m excited about Dostana 2 because it’s a very funny script. If you talk about path-breaking films, I feel this story will be like that.”

Apart from the look tests, prep is also on. Kartik had recently shared a picture of himself with a script on the social media, saying, “Dostana 2 ka prep shuru,” and tagged his director. Recently, Janhvi and Lakshya were also spotted at KJo’s old office.
