Amyra Dastur on her getting used to the ways of showbiz
Titas Chowdhury (HINDUSTAN TIMES; October 24, 2019)
Amyra Dastur is gearing up for the big Diwali release, Made In China. This is her second film with Rajkummar Rao after JudgeMentall Hai Kya, which released earlier this year. “We have a very different dynamic this time around. Rajkummar is great and really cool. There was no awkwardness and hence no ice to break. That comfort level really worked as it helped us understand our comic timings,” she grins.
Amyra gives us a sneak-peek into the shooting of Sanedo, a rendition of the Gujarati folk song used in the film. She says, “Sanedo was shot for a good 24 to 26 hours. Lack of sleep gets you into a comical zone which worked in our favour. After shooting, there was a sense of accomplishment. The entire crew started dancing when we finished the last sequence. It was one big wrap up moment.”
Despite being part of some big projects, the actor has no qualms about auditioning even now. “I still have to go through auditions but I deal with rejections better now. They used to really bog me down initially. I used to say to myself, ‘It was the audition of my life. Why didn’t I get it?’ Now, I tell myself that I’ll do better the next time,” she says.
So is she getting used to the shutterbugs? “I’m used to the paparazzi culture now. It’s not that bad for me because I live in town. Only when I’m in Bandra do I get ‘papped’. They sometimes come out of nowhere and it gets very awkward,” Amyra chuckles.
