Mirror has learnt that Veere Di Wedding actress Swara Bhasker and National Award-winning writer Himanshu Sharma, have split after almost five years. The couple, who started dating while working on Aanand L Rai’s 2015 Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan-starrer Tanu Weds Manu Returns, have collaborated on two more films, Tanu Weds Manu and Raanjhanaa, featuring Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush. Himanshu, who has penned most Rai films till date, was also the creative producer on Swara’s 2016 film, Nil Battey Sannata, which had marked Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s directorial debut.

According to a source close to the development, it was a mutual decision. “The break-up was amicable and happened recently after much deliberation. They are still on talking terms and their respective families are aware of their decision,” the source added.

Last year, after the release of Shashanka Ghosh’s Veere Di Wedding, which had featured Swara alongside Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Shikha Talsania in lead roles, the couple had gone on a European holiday to spend some quality time together. Clicking a lovedup selfie in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Swara had quipped, “We were being unimaginative, selfie-obsessed tourists.” Another time, in a rare display of affection in public, the former couple had held hands while exiting the Mumbai airport in June 2018. Two months before that, Himanshu had attended the wedding ceremony of Swara’s brother Ishan in Lucknow.
