SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME took a good start on its first day as it collected in the 9.5-10 crore nett range. Its not a huge start but for a Thursday its a good number. It is behind AVENGERS: ENDGAME and CAPTAIN MARVEL for 2019.
It is the biggest start for a SPIDER-MAN film in India with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 released in 2014 having the best numbers with 7.48 crore nett. The last big SPIDER-MAN film, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, collected 6.71 crore nett in 2017. So a 9.50 crore nett number is a healthy jump from that. The brand has stagnated in India as the 2007 film SPIDER-MAN 3 is the biggest. It remains the biggest HIT in India out of all the SPIDER-MAN films if we adjust for ticket rates. That film did around 40 crore nett in 2007 and held the record for the highest Hollywood grosser for 2 years until it was beaten by 2012. The figures of that film may have been beaten by 20-25% by other SPIDER-MAN films but it was on far higher ticket rates.
SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME will be dependent on the weekend trend despite a good start and an upward trend on Friday will be a start. If the film does not go up then it will be a struggle. The top opening day collections of Hollywood releases in India are as follows.
Six film have managed to hit double digits from Hollywood in India.
1. Avengers: Endgame (2019) - 53,30,00,000
2. Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - 31,23,00,000
