Ananya Panday, Kartik Aaryan and Bhumi Pedneker set to kick off 50-day schedule of the Pati Patni Aur Woh remake in the UP capital on July 9

In January, it was announced that Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday are teaming up for a modern-day adaptation of the 1978 rom-com, Pati Patni Aur Woh which had featured Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha and Ranjeeta Kaur as leads. A month later, the film went on the floors in Mumbai with a 10-day schedule, following which Kartik went on to wrap up Imtiaz Ali’s #AajKal with Sara Ali Khan and Randeep Hooda, Bhumi completed work on the sports drama Saand Ki Aankh and Ananya made her debut with the Student of The Year sequel.

Now, the trio will reunite next week for a 50-day schedule of the Mudassar Aziz directorial which will be shot in Lucknow and its outskirts. The shoot kicks off on July 9 and will continue till August-end. “Since the songs are mostly situational, the makers also plan to shoot them in Lucknow. Following this schedule it’s a wrap for the film except for some patch-work which will happen later,” informed a source close to the development.

Juno Chopra, who is producing the film with Bhushan Kumar and brother Abhay, confirmed the news, promising, “We will return with the complete film.”

Like the original, the rom-com revolves around Kartik’s character, a man with a wife (Bhumi) and child, who is drawn to his secretary (Ananya). “Like all remakes, the screenplay has been tweaked in keeping with modern sensibilities while retaining the essence,” says the source.

As an aam aadmi in his 30s, Kartik will be sporting a moustache and will be dressing like a typical small-town guy in formal, checked shirts and trousers. Suddenly the flavour of the season after Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, the actor has his hands full with projects like the Bhool Bhulaiya and Dostana sequels, as also a yet-untitled comedy with Anees Bazmee.
