BHARAT had a huge opening day as it collected around 41.50 crore nett on its first day. The collection was the second highest of all time and the highest opening day for Salman Khan. The collections were around 15% less than THUGS OF HINDOSTAN which was on the Diwali holiday which is stronger in mass pockets while in Eid the collections remain stronger over a period in mass pockets.
The film has scored big numbers in all circuits though an all time record is unlikely in any circuit. The best chances are Delhi/UP and Bihar as final collections could reach record levels though it will be a close run thing. There was the big cricket match yesterday also and it has not affected the film much but may have taken 3-4 crore nett as bigger cities did slow in the evening when the Indian team was batting. The real value is probably 44-45 crore nett for the film if the match was not there.
Overall its a big opening day especially considering the genre and the mass collections are huge for a film which probably does have the type of story line expected from a Salman Khan Eid starrer which probably should be more in the commercial zone and probably more action. Now its about how well the film can hold over the next few days which will be aided by the Eid period so it should be a big five day weekend as long as they mass markets keep holding.
