Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor hosted a birthday party for the latter’s 46th on Sunday at their Juhu residence. And besides members of the family, including Boney, Rhea and Mohit Marwah, their friends from the film industry turned up to mark the day. Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were joined by Shweta Bachchan-Nanda, while Preity Zinta, Karan Johar, Tusshar Kapoor, designers Kunal Rawal and Vikram Phadnis, Seema Khan and Chunky and Bhavana Pandey also turned up to party with the birthday girl.

Holding court at the bash was Malaika Arora, whose appearance at Kapoor family dos has increased with intensifying reports of an impending wedding with rumoured beau Arjun Kapoor. Malaika was notably present for the celebrations last year as well. “Maheep had invited people from her inner circle and even though she didn’t cut a cake this year, it was served to the guests,” a source informed, adding that she missed her daughter Shanaya on the occasion. The teenager is away in Lucknow as she is serving as an assistant director on cousin Janhvi Kapoor’s Gunjan Saxena biopic.

While Arjun dropped Malaika to her car at the end of the night, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, who have sparked dating rumours as well, were spotted exiting together.
