Akshay Kumar
Meena Iyer (DNA; March 1, 2019)

Akshay Kumar is a man on a mission. Yesterday, he reached Surat to personally collect a huge contribution of over Rs 5 crore that was collected locally and handed over to him. The Kesari actor, in turn, will pass it on for the welfare and rehabilitation of the families of the slain soldiers. While it is known that contributions can be done online, sources say that Akshay is keen to meet those, who like him, have made it their personal mission to contribute to the Indian Army.

Since February 15, a day after the unfortunate Pulwama tragedy in which 49 soldiers lost their lives, the Bollywood superstar has been committed to just one initiative — Bharat Ke Veer.  In the last fortnight, the actor has personally supervised that all contributions made through the website — which was launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs — have reached the families of the Indian bravehearts who have laid down their lives. Akshay’s own involvement with Bharat Ke Veer is already widely reported. And post Pulwama, he is like a man possessed. He has been continuously monitoring the fund disbursements through the app and website.
