Director to film a true story with an A-list Bollywood actor as the protagonist
Himesh Mankad (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 10, 2019)
Two years after Indu Sarkar, Madhur Bhandarkar is returning to the director’s chair for his next, a quirky action film titled Inspector Ghalib. And while most of his films have been female-centric, this one will have a male protagonist for which the National Award-winning filmmaker plans to rope in an A-list actor.
“The film will be set against the backdrop of sand mafia in Uttar Pradesh. Madhur has been researching on the subject for some time. Although the story is based on a real-life incident, he will give it a larger-than-life treatment,” informed a source close to the development.
The untitled project is currently in the pre-production stage. Madhur is finalising locations, cast and the technical team. “The plan is to take it on the floors around May. To lend authenticity to the story, a major chunk of the film will be shot in UP,” the source added.
Madhur confirmed the news, saying, “Yes, I am making this film, but it is too early to divulge more details at this point.”
