After Khichdi and Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai, J D Majethia and Aatish Kapadia have reunited for another slice-of-life comic television series, titled BhakharWadi. Set in Pune, the show tackles ideological differences between a Marathi and a Gujarati family in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
“Like our previous projects, this one will be in the comic zone too with a social message. After a long time, a television show will ride on a huge ensemble as we have managed to rope in 19 known actors from the Gujarati and Marathi film industries. This show is a New Year gift from us to the audience,” said J D Majethia, who is co-producing BhakharWadi with Aatish.
Shooting for the show, which is fronted by Deven Bhojani, Paresh Ganatra and Jayesh More, kicked off on Wednesday at a suburban city studio. The makers are aiming to take it on air within three months on Sab TV. “The family audience often expects something quirky from us, and we have attempted to meet their expectations,” Aatish explained, adding that they chose the title BhakharWadi as an analogy to encapsulate the tiff between the two families.
While the idea for the story was conceived by Aatish, J D was involved in developing it into a full-fledged screenplay.
