Bollywood, in its quest for inspirational stories, has begun to cherish biopics. In the last few years alone, more than a dozen biopics have made it to the big screen. That apart, many more have been announced and are currently at various stages of development. In the midst of this ongoing trend, BT has learnt that Sunny Deol, who has been long toying with the idea of a biopic on his father, yesteryear superstar Dharmendra, has finally put pen to paper. The actor-director has greenlit a double-layered project, which will encapsulate the journey of his octogenarian father from the fields of Punjab to the concrete jungles of Mumbai, and the life he’s lived under the arclights and away from them.A team that includes writers, camera crew and other technicians has been finalised and will soon commence work on a docu-drama that will set the record straight on Dharmendra’s life over the last eight decades. Simultaneously, a team is working on a book that will include the actor's anecdotes and photographic memories from his film sets and personal milestones.
