2.0 Box Office Collection Day 1: Rajinikanth And Akshay's Film, Hindi Version, Gets 'Super Start'
Box Office India Trade Network

2.0 (Hindi) has had a good opening day with collections of around 20 crore nett. This is despite the big multiplexes not performing upto the mark but the film has done very well at other multiplexes and single screens.

The Akshay Kumar factor has worked for the film as North India has shown good collections with Delhi/UP at 4.75-5 crore nett East Punjab at 1.90 crore nett. East India has fared very well with Bihar collecting around 1.25 crore nett.

The mass pockets in India have shown very strong collections with some places not too far off the figures of THUGS OF HINDOSTAN. The ratios where dubbed films tend to struggle are very good be it Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Rajasthan or Bihar. Gujarat is a little below the mark and could have been better.

This has all come without South where the collections are only from Marathawada. So in real terms the collections are 22-23 crore nett if it this was released like a normal Hindi film. There is huge scope for the film as the high end premiums could do better over the weekend depending on content.

The film had high expectations mainly due to what happened with BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION but eventually its a dubbed film which is an obstacle and if looked as a dubbed film even with Akshay Kumar, 20 crore nett is a big number.

The non holiday Thursday release is also not a great idea for the Hindi markets but it has still put in a good base and now it remains to be seen where the film goes from here and a good hold on Friday especially in mass markets will be a good sign.
-------------------------
2.0 has collected 64 crore nett apprx all over India which is a huge number but still just a little more than 50% of BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION which is the highest first day collection in India of 123 crore nett apprx.

It now means that the top two openers across India are both films from the South and three of the top five are from South with 2.0,  BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION and KABALI in the top five and the other two being THUGS OF HINDOSTAN and PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO and both were Hindi releases. Rajinikanth is the only star to have two in the top five.

The surprise is the figures in North India and Central India as well as Bihar. These markets have done very well for a dubbed film. The South is good but the trade there probably expected higher numbers especially the home market of Tamil Nadu. Bihar is almost at the level of THUGS OF HINDOSTAN with a Thursday release compared to the Diwali day of THUGS OF HINDOSTAN. The single screens in the circuit ran to full or near full houses.

The all India territorial breakdown is as follows and the figures are for all languages in each circuit. The collections in Mumbai and Tamil Nadu are apprx and could go a little higher.
