Tumbbad tells a unique tale and it’s based in a period setting which adds a nice touch. The locales are never before seen in Bollywood and the film makes an important contribution by showcasing the beauty of Maharashtra during the rains in all its glory. The first half doesn’t make the desired impact. But the second half is better as things begin to make more sense. Still, a few questions are left unanswered. Nevertheless, it keeps one engaged. The shocking development in the climax is bound to give viewers a scare. Talking of performances, Sohum Shah takes the cake. This time, he gets a prominent role and he makes good use of it. He’s surely an actor who deserves to do a lot of good roles as he has the talent. Child actor Mohd Samad leaves a mark and same goes for the one who plays young Vinayak. Anita Date and Ronjini Chakraborty are decent while Jyoti Malshe is scary as hell. Do watch Tumbbad if you crave for something unique and hatke!
