Birds Of Passage is a surprise. I had no absolutely no idea about the story and the setting. The film has a slow beginning as the characters get introduced and also their customs and beliefs. But then, this 125 minute long flick that spans 20 years and divided into five chapters, goes on another level. It does give one a déjà vu of The Godfather and Scarface but the setting and characters ensure that the film has an authentic touch. Talking of performances, José Acosta takes the cake followed by Carmiña Martínez, Jhon Narváez, Juan Martínez and Natalia Reyes. Birds Of Passage is Colombia’s official entry to the Oscars this year and do give it a chance if you lay your hands on it!
My rating - **** out of 5!
