(Crisp) Movie Review: ANDHADHUN by FENIL SETA

AndhaDhun’s first half is out of this world! The first 65 minutes will shock and stun you with the various developments and twists and turn every 10-15 minutes. The writing is watertight and Sriram Raghavan’s direction is excellent and does justice. The second half however becomes a bit routine with too much happening. It also becomes a bit unrealistic, a factor absent in the first half. It somehow spoils the tremendous impact generated by the first half. Ayushmann Khurrana, known for light roles, does his first ever intense film and rocks the show. This is no easy role but he excels thoroughly. Tabu as expected takes the film to another level with her performance. Radhika Apte has lesser screen time but makes her presence felt. Manav Vij is an actor to watch out for – he’s too good! And he communicates so much through his eyes! Zakir Hussain, Chhaya Kadam and others first-rate. Amit Trivedi’s music is melodious while Daniel B George’s background score is praiseworthy. All in all, this is a film that surely deserves a watch. Don’t miss!
My rating - **** out of 5!
