A week after reports emerged that Varun Dhawan is gearing up to launch his production house in collaboration with father David and brother Rohit, the trio has set the ball rolling. We hear, they have zeroed in on the name of the banner.

A source reveals, “ The studio has been named No 1 Entertainment after David’s successful ‘ No 1’ series. Varun was keen on christening it so; it is his way of paying tribute to his dad.” The first offering from the Dhawan stable — a comedy featuring Varun — is currently being scripted.

Mirror was the first to report (August 29) that after the 2014 romcom Main Tera Hero and last year’s Judwaa 2, Varun Dhawan is gearing up to reunite with his filmmaker-father David for another comedy that will revive Dhawan Sr’s ‘No 1’ series of film titles.

It was followed by a report that the film would be the first project to roll out of the Dhawan home banner, which Varun and David, alongside the actor’s elder brother, Rohit, are in the process of putting together. “The production house is in the initial stages of planning. It will be headed by David and the first film will be a commercial action-comedy.

Since their (David and Varun) previous collaborations did well at the box office, the family felt it’s the right time for the venture,” a source close to the family had told Mirror (September 6).

While both the film and the banner are in their initial stages of planning, recent reports claim that Sara Ali Khan has been roped in to play Varun’s leading lady in the yet-untitled film. The actress is making her Bollywood debut with Rohit Shetty’s Simmba opposite Ranveer Singh, which will be followed by Abhishek Kapoor’s Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer Kedarnath.

When Mirror reached out to Varun, the actor clarified, “We have just started scripting. Things like casting take some time. We will announce the name once it is locked. Till then, everything else is just rumours.”
