SULTAN had an average opening in China with a collection of $1 million apprx on its first day. The film had a solid release with around 10000 screens and 36000 screenings but there was also competition of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT which also released on the same day.
The opening is the seventh highest in China but PK had similar collections when it was released in 2015 and the market for Hindi films is far bigger now. SULTAN is a commercial masala Hindi film with limited appeal for the ladies and that could be a reason for the average start. Films which are content driven and favour the ladies audience tend to fare better in China. The all time historical great BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION also could not get the Chinese on its side.
