There new Hindi releases MANMARZIYAAN, MITRON and LOVE SONIA could not make much of an impact on day one at the box office with the biggest film of the three MANMARZIYAAN outpacing the others by a distance.
MANMARZIYAAN had a low first day with collections of 3.25 crore nett with Delhi NCR and East Punjab doing the best business. The last Abhishek Bachchan solo film ALL IS WELL had grossed 2.37 crore nett and that film was a bit of a disaster.
In this film the music is far better (though not utilized properly) and it has support from younger actors also, Yet, it has not even done 1 crore nett better and its comes three years later. MANMARZIYAAN had some growth in the evening but it was the normal growth that comes in the evening. The collections of the film are similar toHICHKI but that film was not targeted at the youth like MANMARZIYAAN.
There should be some growth today but it will be tough road ahead. The film is set in Amritsar and that city has hardly collected 3 lakhs nett so the locals have not even come where the film is set. This happened with another film of the same director when GANGS OF WASSEYPUR had a Bihar setting and local characters but was a disaster in Bihar.
MITRON had a very poor day as it collected around 40-50 lakhs nett on day one. The film has not even done well in Gujarat where it had better chances. The concept was decent but the audience was juts not interested possibly due to the actors or just lack of awareness.
LOVE SONIA was the worst of the three with collections in the 25 lakhs nett range. Both MITRON and LOVE SONIA will also grow but from these low numbers the films hardly have much chance even if they to double up.
