David, Rohit, Varun Dhawan joining forces to launch home banner; first production likely to roll in 2019

Mirror had recently reported (August 29) that following the success
of Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2, Varun Dhawan is gearing up to team up
with dad David again for a third time with a film that takes off next
year and revives Dhawan Sr’s hit ‘No 1’ series. Now, we have learnt that
Varun is joining forces with his father and elder brother, filmmaker
Rohit, to launch their own production house. Their ‘No 1’ film will be
the first project to roll out of the banner.
A source close to the family reveals, “It’s a family banner that they plan to launch and is in the initial stages of planning. It will be headed by David and the first film will be a commercial action-comedy. Since their previous collaborations did well at the box office, the family felt it’s the right time for the venture. Varun’s films have been getting a good recovery on satellite and music rights, with the television premiere of Judwaa 2 setting new records. He’s one of the most saleable actors today and a big draw at the box-office so it’s a win-win situation for the Dhawans.”
The home production is expected to go on the floors next year, owing to Varun’s chock-a-block schedule. The 31-year-old actor is currently shooting for Abhishek Varman’s period drama, Kalank, with frequent co-star Alia Bhatt, and new colleagues — Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur.
Next up, there is Remo D’souza’s dance film alongside Katrina Kaif, which rolls in December. After that, the actor is expected to kick off Shashank Khaitan’s Rannbhoomi, his first costume-drama.
