The Punjabi film DAKUAAN DA MUNDA looted the box office (not pun intended) as it took a huge first opening day. It was the highest collecting film across Hindi markets and that includes all Hindi releases and Hollywood films.

The film collected 1.60 crore nett across India which is extraordinary for this film and was 50 lakh better than the next best film THE MEG which grossed around 1.10 crore nett on day one. The business of DAKUAAN DA MUNDA came on just 150 odd theatres while THE MEG was five times more.

DAKUAAN DA MUNDA is the second best opening of 2018 for a Punjabi film after the historic CARRY ON JATTA 2 and the sixth biggest of all time. The rest of the mega openers have been cast films while this is not. The top five Punjabi openings of 2018 are as follows. ALL figures are GROSS

The opening of DAKUAAN DA MUNDA ensures a HIT film on worst case even if the film was not to sustain from Monday onward. If the film actually sustains then it will cause problems for the two big Hindi releases GOLD and SATYAMEVA JAYATE  in Punjab which release on Wednesday.
