After signing up for Luv Ranjan’s upcoming production, De De Pyaar
De, with Tabu and Rakul Preet, and his yet-untitled directorial with Ranbir Kapoor
that is to roll next year, Ajay Devgn is up for another collaboration
with the filmmaker. Mirror has learnt that the duo is gearing up to
produce a film that will be directed by Hansal Mehta.
“It’s an out-and-out comedy that the trio have been discussing for a while now and have locked the initial formalities. The cast is in the process of being finalised even as Hansal has got busy with prep. The film is expected to roll by the year-end,” informs a source close to the development.
Ajay,
who has been working towards building a chain of single screens across
India (Mirror, November 28, 2017) is also scaling up production under
his banner. After the Leena Yadav-directed Parched in 2016, he came up
with his second directorial, the action-packed Shivaay (2016). The
49-year-old actor-producer is now backing actress-wife Kajol’s next, the
Pradeep Sarkar-directed Helicopter Eela, which opens on October 12.
Also in the works is Marathi filmmaker Om Raut’s Bollywood debut, Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior, and Indra Kumar’s multistarrer-comedy Total Dhamaal, in which he features alongside Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Arshad Warsi and Riteish Deshmukh.
Meanwhile, Hansal, who won a National Award for Shahid, is also gearing up for his fifth collaboration with his leading man, Rajkummar Rao, with the tentatively-titled Swagat Hain, which addresses issues like freedom of expression, hypocrisy and exploitation of women in the workplace and in personal spaces.
