Earlier this week, reports of Taapsee Pannu joining hands with Tumhari Sulu director Suresh Triveni for a commercial trickled in. The actor had then revealed that she hoped to encourage women to achieve financial independence via the ad. In a discussion with mid-day, she says she finds comfort in the fact that creative heads associate her with the empowering films that she has worked in, in the past.

"With the films that I have done, and the issues I've taken a stand for, I find myself appropriately communicating with my target audience. It's nice that, nowadays, the brands that approach me have a strong reason behind why they want me [as their face], and the message they wish to put across," says the actor.

Certain to exercise caution before associating herself with a product, Pannu says she also ensures the commercials are executed appropriately. "It's not just about the product, but also the way [it is sold]. It must be relatable and ethically correct. I am cautious about the brands I choose to work with, but I'm pleasantly surprised to see they keep these factors in mind when approaching me."

Talking about the commercial for the insurance company, Pannu says she hopes to tackle the subject of eve-teasing by urging miscreants to focus on making a career instead of "loitering on the roads." She says, "Instead of wasting time teasing women, [the men should] spend time constructively, and aim to achieve financial independence. Because women like her [the protagonist] are securing their future."
