Manisha Koirala

A couple of days ago, we told you how Manisha Koirala is taking swimming classes. So enthusiastic is she about her newfound obsession that she even went for a swim the day she was to fly off to Lucknow to shoot for Prasthanam. But that’s not the only thing the pretty actress has on her wish list for herself.

Manisha was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012 and successfully fought the dreaded disease. She has been cancer-free now for the past five years and has penned down her experiences in a book titled Healed. “Apart from my film work this year, I hope to finish and release my book. It was supposed to come out by January, then got pushed to March and now, I hope to bring it out by August this year. I’m not a writer, so it’s a struggle,” she reveals.

The book is Manisha personal journey regarding health, encompassing physical, mental and emotional aspects. “It’s about what I went through on all these fronts, the problems I faced, how I dealt with them, how I have healed and where I am today. Though it talks of cancer, which I went through, it also tackles all these facets. As human beings, we are all multi-dimensional. If one thing affects you, other things, too, get impacted. So, until and unless we take care of overall health, we can’t be completely healthy,” she adds.

And now that she has written a book, does she see herself writing a film script as well? “No, I’m not that skillful a writer. Half my hair has gone writing the book!” she jokes. What she would like to do is direct a film. “That’s on my wish list. I would love to direct,” she says. However, there is no actor in particular whom she would like to take in her film. “I would just want to tell a story. Whoever fits that story, I will take them on and hope to get a good performance out of them,” she adds.

While those are her immediate plans for this year, there are a few other things that the 1942 A Love Story actress has in mind for the future. “One of the things I really want to do is to trek to the Everest Base Camp, which is a 12-day trek. I will definitely go next year,” she says.
