The Rajinikanth starrer KAALA is finding it tough going at the box office with collections that are not upto the mark. The film has collected 50 crore nett apprx in all languages across India in three days and that may look a strong enough number but its too low for the prices paid by distributors.
The Hindi version was never going to collect much and that has turned out to be the case with collections which will go to 4.50-5 crore nett for its extended weekend four day weekend. The main problem is down South. It fetched around 30 crore in Nizam/Andhra and the collections in three days are a bit of a disaster with distributor share being just 8 crore apprx which makes it impossible to even get close to recovering 30 crore.
The all India collections of KAALA till date are as follows,
Thursday - 20,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 15,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 15,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 50,00,00,000 apprx
Tamil Nadu which is the home market for the film is also struggling as it fetched a price of nearly 60 crore in that market and its extended four day weekend nett collections will finish in the 40-42 crore nett region which means a distributor share of 28-29 crore.
The comparison which tells all is that the last Rajinikanth film KABALI had an opening day all India GROSS of 52 crore while KAALA is half of that with around 26 crore GROSS on its opening day.
