Mirror had earlier reported (May 23) that after delivering the sleeper hit Tumhari Sulu, filmmaker Suresh Triveni is teaming up with Ayushmann Khurrana for a music video titled “Chan Kitthan”. Now, we have learnt that the song features the 33-year-old actor as an undercover cop and was shot at locations like Khardungla Pass, Tsomgo Lake, Gangtok and at Tashi Namgyal Academy, a public school in Sikkim, and also features South actress Pranitha Subhash.

Ayushmann says that he has shot for a single after two years as he was busy with three films in 2017 — Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s Bareilly Ki Barfi, Akshay Roy’s Meri Pyaari Bindu and R S Prasanna’s Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. “And each film had a song sung by me. I did a single now as I had a break between shoots,” the actor-singer reveals. The single has playback by Ayushmann, while composer Rochak Kohli has recreated the original Punjabi number by the same name and Kumaar has penned the lyrics.

Pranitha, who has featured in films like Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda with Mohan Babu, Brahmotsavam with Mahesh Babu and Attarintiki Daredi with Pawan Kalyan, among others, plays his love interest. “Pranitha is a fine actor and her chemistry with Ayushmann is fresh. Shooting in cold weather was a challenge but the beauty of Sikkim made up for it,” Triveni reveals.

“Chan Kitthan” is Ayushmann’s third single with Bhushan Kumar after “Yahin Hoon Main” (2015) and “Ik Vaari” (2016). The actor, who had a cameo in Tumhari Sulu, informs that playing an undercover cop in the music video was the filmmaker’s idea. “He wanted to show me in a different light as I haven’t played a cop in any of my films. Suresh is a very exciting director to work with,” he says. Ayushmann recently wrapped up Junglee Pictures’ Badhaai Ho and is now shooting for Sriram Raghavan’s Shoot the Piano Player.
