Mirror had earlier reported (May 22) that Kaalakandi actress Sobhita Dhulipala has been roped in for a significant role in Malayalam filmmaker Jeethu Joseph’s Hindi debut, a crime thriller remake of the 2012 Spanish film, The Body.

Now, we have learnt that the project also marks the Hindi debut of popular South actress Vedhika Kumar. The film, tentatively titled The Body, features Emraan Hashmi as the leading man and Rishi Kapoor in a prominent role.

“I’m so glad I waited for the right project to come my way. I’m excited and thankful,” Vedhika, who has appeared in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films and made her breakthrough as Angamma in the acclaimed period film Paradesi in 2013, tells Mirror.

Jeethu reveals that Vedhika was locked for the part after a nationwide hunt and several auditions. “The character is of a young college-going girl with some innocence about her. She fits the role beautifully. Her pairing with Emraan will be fresh and one to watch out for,” Jeethu adds.

While shooting for the film kicked off in the second week of May in Mumbai, the unit is set to fly to Mauritius next week for an extensive schedule.
