Today's Big Release: Parmanu And Bioscopewala
Box Office India Trade Network

PARMANU a little over 20 crore nett in its first weekend which is on the lower side though the trend is pretty decent as on Sunday the film was affected by the IPL final. So if that was not there there would have been good growth on Sunday. The IPL match on Friday did not affect the film as this can be seen by the general business of all films. It was normal on Friday but Sunday all films were hit by the cricket.

The film seems to have some appreciation in some areas but in some places the film is not going anywhere. North (except UP) and Central are doing best while Nizam/Andhra, CP Berar, West Bengal and Bihar are low and the trend not too strong either.

The first weekend business of PARMANU is as follows.
Friday - 4,75,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 8,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 20,25,00,000 apprx

The film has done worse than MADRAS CAFE which was a similar patriotic film with John Abraham but the cost was 25% less. That film collected a similar 20.50 crore nett over the weekend but it was way back in 2013 and the screen count was just 1050 screens compared to 1900 screens for PARMANU.

There is still hope for PARMANU over the weekdays as the Sunday may actually be better than the numbers tell and it could follow up on the weekdays but that remains to be seen.

The Saturday growth was there for the film but that is now a story for most films and it has become more about whether Sunday can push on or not and its hard to tell with this film due to the big cricket match.

The Hollywood film SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY was a disaster with collections in the 1.30-1.40 crore nett range over the weekend. The film actually had a drop of 5-10% on Sunday due to the cricket.

BIOSCOPEWALA, the other Hindi release of the week outside PARMANU was even worse than SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY with collections of 10 lakhs nett over the weekend.
