AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR grossed 30-30.50 crore nett apprx on day one which is the highest first day of the year. It will probably be the tenth highest first day of all time including all Hindi releases. The occupancy on day one is higher than BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION and we probably have to go back to KOI MIL GAYA in 2003 when a film had such high occupancy on day one.
There has been no Hollywood film that has even reached 15 crore nett before this film so its almost double their best in India. The collections have also come on just 2000 screens whereas films like BAAGHI 2 and PADMAAVAT were released on 3500 screens.
Despite the 2000 screens, the capacity was built at especially at multiplexes with ATP's (Average Ticket Prices) which were 30% higher than BAAGHI 2.
The opening numbers are simply crazy and its funny to see the Hindi film industry and trade especially latter celebrating and rejoicing when in reality its the biggest kick in teeth to the Hindi film industry ever. Only in this industry a kick in the teeth will be celebrated. There was BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION last year but that was still an Indian film at least.
There is the huge Hindi film audience which is just starved for entertainment week in week out. There may be a few festival event films which interest them and maybe the odd one here and there which means they will look elsewhere. Hollywood was getting the upper hand in many clashes with Hindi films but this is another level and it has to remembered its just 2000 screens (if the film was allowed to released on UFO and Qube format then we could even be talking about 40 crore nett) and it was not a holiday.
This is not to say if the Hindi industry had universal Hindi films every fortnight that AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR would not have opened big. It would have but probably not this big that it in real value it practically takes out every other film. After this beating from Hollywood we will deliver films like 102 NOT OUT, RAAZI and VEERE DI WEDDING, and yes there is OMERTA too for good luck. Its like they are making films for India and only god knows who the majority of Hindi films are made for.
AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is on course for the biggest weekend of the year also though the collections will not grow that much as the film is already recording very high occupancy.
-----------------------------
AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR had another huge day as it collected around 30-30.50 crore nett on its second day. The total collections of the film in two days are now 61 crore nett. The film has beaten the likes of BLACK PANTHER and THOR: RAGNAROK in two days flat as far as the box office in India is concerned.
There was a little drop on Saturday but that was expected as the film got such a big opening day with very high occupancy so some places come down a little. The trend of the film is fantastic and Sunday could see some growth but it will be limited if it does come as there is not much room for the film to grow.
The first two day collections of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR are as follows
Friday - 31,33,00,000
Saturday - 30,25,00,000
TOTAL - 61,58,00,000
The weekend should be in the range of 92-94 crore nett which would almost make it the second highest Hollywood film in India and that title is sure to come on Monday as it crossed the 100 crore nett mark and becomes the second Hollywood film to do so after THE JUNGLE BOOK (2016).
THE JUNGLE BOOK grossed around 180 crore nett which is the highest non holiday grosser after BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will be looking to cross THE JUNGLE BOOK and the way its gone over the first two days the chances are good to beat THE JUNGLE BOOK.
-----------------------------
AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR has put up an extraordinary weekend of 94 crore nett plus which is easily the highest of 2018 beating the 75 crore nett of PADMAAVAT and 72.50 crore nett of BAAGHI 2. The film is short of the 100 crore nett mark but that was never really on due to capacity issues even after a 31 crore nett plus day one.
There are only six outright Hindi films (TIGER ZINDA HAI, SULTAN, DANGAL, BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN, PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO and DHOOM 3) which have had higher opening weekends but all are festive releases. Despite there being limited growth over the weekend the trend of the film is still extraordinary as collections have gone up at many places when there was not really much scope to go up.
The first weekend collections of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR are as follows
Friday - 31,33,00,000
Saturday - 30,25,00,000
Sunday - 32,75,00,000
TOTAL - 94,33,00,000
The trend suggests a strong hold on Monday though the English version would normally show a noticeable drop on Monday which is the case for most Hollywood releases but here ticket pricing is being held at weekend rates which will soften this drop.
Then there are minor holidays in the weekdays to further boost the film and on top its a weak period in terms of releases which could mean AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR dominating the box office over the next 4-5 weeks. The lifetime business of the film can go anywhere.
-----------------------------
AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR had an extraordinary Monday with collections in the 20-21 crore nett range. They were a bit lower than the early estimates yesterday as the partial holiday which skewed the collections at places. It is still a huge number and the film is at almost 115 crore nett in four days.
There are not many films which have grossed more than 20 crore nett on Monday and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR has joined that list of six films to become the seventh film to cross 20 crore nett on a holiday. The drop on Monday is around 30% which is super strong trending and the week is set to go to around 170 crore nett.
The first four day collections of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR are as follows
Friday - 31,33,00,000
Saturday - 30,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 32,75,00,000 apprx
Monday - 20,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,14,83,00,000 apprx
