Sunil Grover is on a roll. Soon after signing Vishal Bhardwaj’s
Chhuriyaan, in which he will be seen as a leading man alongside Sanya
Malhotra and Radhika Madan, the comedian-actor has signed another big
production. The 41-year-old actor-comedian is now set to play Salman
Khan’s friend in Ali Abbaz Zafar’s Eid 2019 release Bharat, which
features Priyanka Chopra as the leading lady.
“I am excited to welcome Sunil into the Bharat family. He is one of the
most loved names in the TV industry and has a huge fan following owing
to his commendable work. He plays a pivotal role in the film, along with
Salman who will age from 30 to 65 years in the film. The duo is sure to
create magic,” Ali (inset) told Mirror confidently, adding that the
period drama will be shot across locations in Abu Dhabi and Spain,
besides Punjab and Delhi. The Atul Agnihotri and Bhushan Kumar production is an adaptation of the 2014 South Korean film, Ode to My Father. In an interview to Mirror (October 24, 2017) Atul had shared that the original film was just an inspiring starting point for Bharat’s story. He had first seen the original at the Berlin Film Festival and felt it’d translate into a beautiful Hindi film. “It starts in 1947 and ends in 2000 and is the journey of a country and also a person, both of whom go by the name of Bharat,” he’d said.
