Shahid Kapoor and wife Mira Rajput are expecting their second child this winter. Mirror has learnt that the mom-to-be recently completed her first trimester. On Friday, Shahid took to Instagram to share the news with a picture of his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Misha, captioning it “big sister”.

The grapevine had been buzzing about the couple expanding their family since Mira revealed recently that she had no plans to enter the film industry soon “because I am going to have another baby, and then decide”. Later, she fuelled pregnancy rumours during an outing with her mother with an evident baby bump.

In an interview last year, Shahid had admitted that “Mira, who is just 22, would prefer to have a second kid soon as well”. He had gone on to add that “she wants to flip the norm, get the kids to a certain age and then be free to do what she likes”.

Mira was a third year English honours student at Delhi’s Lady Sri Ram College and had interned with the United Nations when she met Shahid in 2014. In January 2015, his father, actor Pankaj Kapur, who knew Mira’s father as they belong to the Radha Soami Satsang Beas sect, proposed a match between the two. Shahid was open to the idea of an arranged marriage and was looking for a girl with whom he could have a “normal, peaceful, non-filmi life”. The couple tied the knot at a private ceremony in Gurgaon on July 7, 2015. Misha was born 11 months later on August 26. Mirror had been the first to report (April 6, 2016) that Mira was in her third trimester.
