Poonam Dhillon, who was last seen on the big screen in the 2013 Shruti Haasan and Girish Kumar-starrer Ramaiya Vastavaiya as the latter’s mother, is making a comeback with director Luv Ranjan’s next production. Titled Blame It On Sanjog, the film marks the directorial debut of Navjot Gulati and sees the actress in the role of a boisterous Punjabi mom. “We’ve started shooting in Mumbai and will be moving to Delhi later this month. I play a loud Punjabi woman, and Surpiya Pathak and I are best friends-turned-foes due to an incident. Then, our kids — Sunny Singh and Sonnalli Seygall — fall in love and our lives take a different turn,” Poonam, who plays Sonnalli’s mother, told Mirror.
The actress quickly added that despite its premise, the film is a masala entertainer and she’s having fun shooting. “There’s a lot of humour, celebration and shaadis, besides the rivalry between Supriya and my character. I’ve shot just a couple of days with Supriya and I’m really enjoying myself. It’s also nice to work with the young team of Navjot, Sunny and Sonnalli,” she said. After Delhi and Mumbai, the film will also be shot in Ghaziabad.
About her comeback after five years, Poonam informed, “I get many offers but it has to have an interesting character so I don’t regret doing the film later. People tell me I should play mom to Shraddha (Kapoor) as she looks like me.” Mirror had earlier reported (October 30, 2017) that Dhillon’s 25-year-old son Anmol Thakeria is set to make his debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next, titled Tuesdays And Fridays. Poonam clams up on the subject. “We aren’t ready to talk about it yet,” she said.
