Amrita Singh and Dimple Kapadia started off as rivals way back in the ’80s. Over the years, their equation changed for the better. Amrita aka Dingy and Dimpy became close buddies and their common circle included fashion-duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, too. They met frequently at the B-Town designers’ house parties.
So, when Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath, which was meant to be the launch pad of Amrita’s daughter, Sara, ran into financial trouble, the senior actress was visibly upset. A source says, “Amrita mentioned the Kedarnath issue to Dimple, who immediately started looking for the right people to step in and help Abhishek (Gattu) tide over the tough phase.” However, even as Dimple continued her efforts, Abhishek got lucky as Ronnie Screwvala came forward and agreed to bankroll Kedarnath.
Producer Prernaa Arora couldn’t speak on record, but a source confirmed that KriArj Entertainment had received the Rs 15 crore that they had invested in the film, post which Gattu took over the reins.
