Two years after Pankaj Tripathi-starrer English film, Mango Dreams, received applause in the international film festival circuit, the movie has been acquired by Netflix for digital screening.
Tripathi, who received the best actor award for his performance in the film at the Cape Town International Film Market & Festival, feels proud to be part of the project. “I’m happy that the movie will be available on one of the biggest digital platforms. I am proud to be part of the film, because it has earned me laurels on international platforms. When its director [John Upchurch] reached out to me, I loved the script. It was an instant yes for me. It was great to work with the team,” says the actor.
Mango Dreams is about a Hindu doctor (played by Ram Gopal Bajaj) suffering from dementia and a Muslim auto rickshaw driver (played by Tripathi), who form an unlikely friendship as they travel together to find the doctor’s childhood home.
