After Sridevi’s untimely demise two weeks ago, speculations have been rife that Karan Johar, who had signed her on for one of his production ventures, Abhishek Varman’s Shiddat, is looking for her replacement. However, a source close to the filmmaker, says, “Karan was extremely fond of Sridevi and they shared an amazing relationship. He doesn’t want to rush to find a replacement right away. That is certainly not on his priority list.”
When After Hrs had met KJo some time back, he had told us, “I’m so happy that Sridevi is doing a film with us, although I’m sad I’m not directing it. As we talk, they are doing their photoshoot for the announcement.” Everything was set, when tragedy struck. “The whole celebration behind the announcement is futile for Karan now. It’s just two weeks since Sridevi’s death. Karan will sit with the team next week and then decide who they want to approach for the role that was offered to Sridevi. All other speculations are baseless,” added the source.
In fact, the director is regularly in touch with the Kapoors, and supporting his protégée Janhvi, whom he is launching with Dhadak. “Karan has given instructions to the whole Dhadak team to ensure that good care is taken of Janhvi. He is also keeping a check on everything.”
