Arshad Warsi, who kicked off his seventh film with Devgn, on their long association and the madness behind the Dhamaal franchise

Over six years after the release of Indra Kumar’s Double Dhamaal, Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaaferi kicked off work on the franchise’s third instalment, Total Dhamaal, on Tuesday in Mumbai. The two actors reprise their roles of brothers Aditya and Manav Shrivastav respectively.
“Riteish (Deshmukh) is back from the original too, but he is playing a different character this time,” informs Arshad. Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor have come on board as new entrants in the acting line-up.
“Jaaved and I shot for our introduction sequence on Tuesday. It’s always the same scene on the sets of Dhamaal — you walk in, see a lot of people running around and Indu ji yelling into the mic politely,” Arshad laughs, adding that the shoot is expected to go on till June. “While Ajay and Riteish have wrapped up their solo portions I have just started. We will all be shooting together at a later stage. It’s going to be a crazy ride. It’s sometimes over-the-top acting but I know the audience, especially the kids, love it so it’s worth the effort.”
Total Dhamaal marks Arshad’s seventh collaboration with Devgn, who is also producing the film with Fox Star Studios. “All my films with Ajay have done very well, be it our first collaboration Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet or the Golmaal films. Sunday was the only one that didn’t do that great but was appreciated,” Arshad adds.
Will we see him shake a leg with Madhuri? “If you tell this to Indu ji, it would happen. He doesn’t let go of any opportunity to entertain people and is open to suggestions,” the actor signs off.
