BOMBAY TIMES (February 7, 2018)

The start of this year has some great news for Salman Khan fans. Their favourite Devil aka Devi Lal Singh is gearing up for an encore. Yes, after plenty of speculation, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala is finally announcing the much-awaited sequel to Kick. His next collaboration with Salman, who has seen super success at the box office, is Kick 2, and it’s scheduled to open in cinemas on the Christmas weekend of 2019.

Confirming the news, producer-director Sajid Nadiadwala, who marked his directorial debut with the action film Kick, said, “I am glad to announce that the second installment of Kick will hit the theaters during the Christmas holidays in 2019 and I am really excited to direct my second film.”

Produced by Sajid under his banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Kick was one of the highest earners of 2014. Interestingly, he is the only director whose debut has scored a double century at the box office.

The first outing revolved around Devi Lal Singh (Salman), who tries to find a kick (excitement) in everything he does. His strong desire for a new kick eventually turns him into a Robin Hood-like thief known as Devil, who steals from the rich to help the poor and lesser-privileged sections of the society.

While Sajid isn’t yet ready to reveal what his sequel will be about, buzz is that it will be bigger and better than the original, with some really high-octane and never-seen-before-in-Bollywood stylised action sequences.

Considering their very successful track record, it’s natural to hope that their upcoming venture will fare well commercially, too. While fans wait to welcome the Devil again, the movie is slated to go on floors soon.
